Circular Asset Ledger
A Lifecycle Record for Energy Infrastructure
The Circular Asset Ledger (CAL) keeps a record of an energy asset from installation to final recovery. The record covers what the asset is made of and what condition it is in, and it says where the asset is. It stays with the asset when ownership changes hands.
Entries are only ever added, never overwritten, and each one is linked to the one before it. Anyone given the record can check that no entry has been changed or removed.
CAL also follows the financial provision set aside for the asset's end of life. Asset owners and lenders can see whether the capital for recovery is on course to be in place, and buyers of recovered materials can see what is coming well before the asset is retired.

Capabilities
Digital Material Passports
Recording materials, fatigue history and component serial numbers at installation, and updating them through the asset’s operating life to support regulatory audits
Escrow and Sinking Fund Tracking
Showing asset owners, lenders and municipalities whether the capital for end-of-life recovery is on course to be in place well before decommissioning
Standards Checks
Asset data is checked against UGSO.org standards and against third-party standards such as ISO 20887 and ISO 59020. Many third-party standards are brought into UGSO.org over time, so the checks draw on one body of standards that keeps growing.
Forward Material Visibility
Giving buyers of recovered materials early sight of material streams expected 10 to 30 years ahead of retirement, so that asset owners can arrange off-take in advance
